Fearrington Summer - Fullsteam Brewery
This week I decided to try a North Carolina brewery for my beer review and settled on the Fearrington Summer by Fullsteam Brewery out of Durham, NC. This was an intersting take on a session IPA brewed with tea.
This beer is described as a Southern twist on a Session IPA. Fullsteam brewed this with lemon peel, El Doroado and Ahtanum hops and Governor Gray tea. The result is a very light and drinkable beer perfect for summer time. It's only 4.8% ABV, so you can enjoy a couple and not regret it later. The can was one of the reasons I snatched this up at the store, with a sleak and modern design.
Overall, the beer was an interesting departure from most Session IPAs I have had lately but it did lack a certain stand out quality that I was looking for. I could easily drink a few on a hot day and be satisfied, but it left me wanting more notes of the hops and the tea and really I didn't get either.
